This is a sweet cream sauce which is wonderful as a topping for fruits, fruit salads and various desserts such as pies and small cakes. I found it (as Sauce Smitane) in Dione Lucas' Book of French Cooking. My version substitues Cool Whip for the whipped cream and sugar in the original. Makes 2 cups 1 cup sour cream 1 cup Cool Whip Grated zest of one lemon 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg (or store-bought,ground) 1/4 tso ground cinnamon Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Chill.
